Food is always amazing. So good! The service and staff are always top notch. It's a small place and that's why I like it. I stop every time I'm in Vegas, I recommend you do the same.
(Pics from multiple visits), I have been waiting to make this review as I have visited Curry Zen so many timesss. In my opinion the best curry you can get in Las Vegas and it never disappoints ! Service is always consistently great and always I feel comfortable around the environment of the restaurant. I highly recommend this place if you are looking for good options of katsu and curry !
Small dinning area with room for about 36 people. The menu is simple. I ordered beef curry with vegetables. It was delicious and reminded me of my years in Japan in the 80's. I highly recommend this restaurant. Subarahi!
Overall: 4.3/5 [dine in] We came here for a late lunch and were seated right away. The staff was very professional, though the food took a while to arrive. Their menu features a build-your-own curry bowl, where you can customize the portion size, carb, spice level, toppings, and proteins. I was taken aback that they charged extra for a higher level spice; it should honestly be included in the base price of the curry in my opinion. We got a small curry with white rice ($8.50) since we didn't want a lot of rice. However, there wasn't enough curry so we had to order extra side of curry ($3). Although the portion was small, the curry was delicious. Note: They charged us $0.20 twice for spicy level 4 for the small order & extra side order of curry. My husband added scrambled egg ($2) and sweet honey ($1.50) as the toppings (not needed from my perspective). For the protein, we got the 5 piece kushi ($7) since we were sharing. The kushi included chicken, zucchini, quail egg, shiitake mushroom, & fried shrimp. They were all equally good. We also got 5 pieces of takoyaki ($5.75) and 6 pieces of deep friend pork & shrimp shumai ($5). These appetizers were fresh & tasted better than the kushi. Although the food was satisfying, I'm not really a fan of the way they charge for every single little thing.
First time trying Zen. I'm currently on a low- carb diet, but my other half was craving japanese style curry, so she did a search on Yelp and found Zen. We walked in, and the restaurant is small. Cozy, but small, guesstimating about 10 tables. Thankfully, we were able to sit immediately. Being that I'm on a low-carb diet, I asked about not having rice with my order. I was informed that I can substitute vegetables for the rice, so I opted for that. I got the small fried tofu curry, with the vegetables substituted for the rice. We also ordered Chicken Katsu curry and a side of Karaage Chicken. Our food came pretty quick, the curry sauce was really good, and the fried tofu was hot and crisp. The other items looked really good as well! One thing that I was not expecting, was that I was charged for the vegetables, meaning it was not a straight substitute for not getting the rice, nor was I informed of this when I initially inquired about the substitution. The food itself was very tasty and served piping hot, no complaints.
The absolute best Japanese curry! Curry Zen is a must-visit! Ambiance & Service: The interior is clean with plenty of seating. I visited on a weekday for dinner and there was no wait. The servers were very nice and attentive, and the food came out hot and fresh. Food: I ordered regular curry (spice level 4) with white rice and tofu katsu. The portion was hefty, enough for leftovers. Spice level 4 is a perfect medium, and the curry is savory and flavorful with hints of turmeric and other spices. The tofu is perfectly fried, and the rice is soft, soaking in the delicious curry. TL;DR: Delicious Japanese curry with friendly service. Try the tofu katsu!
Small restaurant tucked in the back with a chill vibe. Music was at a comfortable level where I feel like I wasn't involved in the tables conversation next to me but I didn't have to talk overly loud to communicate. I really liked our waitress Bree, she gave some good recommendations since it was mine and my brothers first time visiting. I got the white rice with vegetables in the curry, pork and chicken Katsu. Spice is definitely on the mild side if you are used to Thai restaurant spice levels. Everything tasted really good I will definitely visit again.
I was craving curry and decided to try out Japanese Curry Zen! We arrived as a party of 5 on Friday night around 7:30 pm and were immediately seated. The menu is pretty simple with some appetizers, drinks, and curry customizations. I ordered a regular size curry (spice level 3) with pork katsu for $16.15. The service was fast, and our orders came out within 10 minutes. The rice was perfectly cooked and had the correct stickiness. The curry was so flavorful and the spice was just enough. The pork Katsu was tender, juicy, and well breaded. One small downside is the price. With the curry customizations, you can easily rack up the price. $16 for basic curry with no toppings and a standard size pork katsu filet is pretty expensive. However, it is worth the price. Overall, this was a delicious meal that reminded me of the curry I had in Japan!
